A showroom of a tapping machine manufacturer. The space is a 6m x 6m room in the existing factory where a robot demonstrates the performance of the machine. The room is used for both client presentations and as a meeting room. It is also used as a relaxation space for staff. The space was designed to express what years of hard work had contributed to be labelled as ‘made in Japan’. Traditional Japanaese materials such as iron stone and Ōya stone, along with wooden frames were used to convey a sense of warmth to what otherwise would portray only a mechanical atmosphere. The walls painted with black lacquer, in contrast with the white robot create an overall effect is mystifying and eye-catching.
