A unique design plan in a location with an elevation gap of 14 meters, and a maximum angle inclination of 70 degrees, allows for a phenomenal view of the horizon in the distance. When one visits the premises for the first time they will be astonished to be greeted by what looks like wooden boxes hanging in between the zelkova and maple trees. The 4m x 14m cantilevers are supported by thin steel frames and concrete slab. Sunlight filters through the room of what would be defined as a basement according to the law, because half of the floor is underground. The sunlight that enters the room from the opening is diffused to softly illuminate the room. This creates a strong contrast and a gradation of light and shadow. This residence can be felt through the sense of sight, and embraces the pureness of light as one walks through the building. This project can be considered the perfect combination of civil engineering and architectural development.
